Hobbies: spending time with my kids, reading, painting, graphic design, watching Texas Rangers baseball
Tell us a little about yourself: I was born and raised in Wichita Falls and the Burkburnett area. I graduated from Burkburnett High School in 1999. I attended Midwestern State University where I received a B.A. in Mass Communication in 2003. I currently serve as the Communications Officer for WFISD and I truly consider it my “dream job.” It is such a rewarding position and no two days are ever the same. In my spare time, I enjoy volunteering for local nonprofits including the Junior League of Wichita Falls, Children’s Miracle Network, the Wichita County Heritage Society, Hospice of Wichita Falls, the Nonprofit Center of Texoma and the Ben Milam PTO. I have two children, Grayson and Kendyl, who attend Milam Elementary.
If you had family/guests in town, what are the must-see, must do activities: I like to take “out of towners” to our local restaurants like Gypsy Kit, Casa Mañana and McBrides. It’s also neat to show off the history in our downtown area and the improvements that have been made in recent years. The Wichita Theatre is also a great place to take in great, live entertainment! And, of course, you have to visit “the falls!”
Describe your typical weekend in Wichita Falls: There really is always something to do in Wichita Falls on the weekend so I can’t say what a typical weekend looks like for me. But…depending on the weekend, I am usually doing activities with my kids, riding my bike on the trail or hanging out with friends. My friends and I enjoy going to concerts or other local events that are taking place at MPEC or downtown.
What do you love most about living in Wichita Falls: Without a doubt, the people are what make Wichita Falls great. When there is a need, you can always find volunteers willing to step up and help out. I think Wichita Falls is unique in the way our community rallies together to help each other in times of need.
