Behind the Videos: Krispy Kreme Pop-Up Party

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts heads to Wichita Falls this week for a party!

A very hilarious effort to lure Krispy Kreme to Wichita Falls started earlier this summer. I received an email from a former co-worker that said, “Good Morning Anna Banana!!! Put your head(s) together and win this for Wichita Falls!!”

Not being particularly busy at the moment, I called in Walter, the brains of the entire operation and a particularly good idea man and work began. Within seconds, he said — talk to the guys at NIN and let’s throw donuts off the Littlest Skyscraper (a regular segment for them).

So I did:

So… wanna team up and throw Krispy Kremes off the littlest skyscraper to get a pop up shop in WF?

Drew and Aaron were in and the fun began. We picked the hottest day of the year (at least it felt like it) and that afternoon the original video was born. (You can check it out below.)

It was a few weeks before any of us heard anything, but Drew thought for good measure we should send out a second video…

Aaron was in Dallas with his family, so we asked him to pick up some Krispy Kreme Doughnuts while he was there:

When he returned we had a brain storming session, Drew got lost a few times. Then we got down to work. We rounded up a few “volunteers” at Midwestern State University and below you can see the results.

We waited and waited for what seemed like years, (okay a week). We scoped out who we thought our competition MIGHT be… but we were pretty confident that we had won. The announcement was made. It was so cool to see our name come up!! People were talking about how they wanted to move to Wichita Falls, and how we were so lucky… and I thought, yep. That’s why we wanted to do this. Also for doughnuts.

So Krispy Kreme is making a trip to Wichita Falls now. I can’t thank Walter, Drew and Aaron enough. It’s been so much fun, and I look forward to working with them again soon! Except Walter. I work with him every day still.

And the fun isn’t over yet!! The big party starts Saturday morning at 8:45 at the Farmers Market. And thanks to NIN — YOU can be first in line. Click here to find out more

Thanks for all your support, for sharing the videos, for letting me make a fool out of myself and not judging any of us too harshly. We’ve had fun doing this, and we all sincerely hope you’ll come out and have fun too.

Follow us on Facebook or twitter @ChooseWF. You never know what kind of antics we’ll get up to next.
