Blacksmithing and Steel Forging

Josh Maxwell, Curator of Education for the Wichita Falls Museum of Art, has been a metalsmith for over a decade. He began forging steel as a teenager before formally studying in the blacksmith program at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. HIs work focuses on sculpture, jewelry, tools, and knife making.

After taking introduction to Blacksmithing, participants will have gained an understanding of basic forging techniques, traditional mechanical connections, tool making, and heat treatment.

**We need a minimum of 3 students for this class to “make”, maximum 4 per section.
